I’ve grown to be completely addicted to Twitter. However, I’m not a huge fan of their web interface on my Windows Mobile phone. So, when I found Twikini, I was in love. This client is extremely fast. I’m able to reply to any person I already follow. What I really like is that when someone posts a link to a supported image site, Twikini pulls the image right into the Tweet. Genius! I use IE because I want to. I use free software to buffer me from any attacks. I have a firewall/router as well. Two antivirus programs, Windows XP Sp2, Spybot S&D, Ad-aware and a freeware port scanner to alert me if none of those seemed to work. Therefore this WINTARD who’s been in the IT business for 11 years and has been using computers for well over 20 years will continue to use IE because I hate Firefox. I think it’s clunky and who gives a rat’s behind about tabbed browsing anyway. I’m secure! My machine is secure! AND the FirePOX movement is starting to smell like other movements I’ve had. I use IE because I like Active X, I like to be able to view all websites as they were intended to be seen. It doesn’t matter that poor programmers are at fault. I just want to see the %^$#^%$# page properly. I’m sick of “anybody but Gates” people telling me I’ve got to switch. IE users are only on they’re own because of lack of knowledge. The internet isn’t anything else but the wild west and if you get shot it’s your own damned fault. Virus writers, spammers, and spyware perveyors are no better than the criminals floating around South Central Los Angeles or Hell’s Kitchen of New York. I can ramp the security in IE so tight that I’ll only be able to view the beginning web designer’s first project of “Hello World.”
If I were going to switch I’d listen to established experts and not all you people who are caught in the swoon of the MacAttack or the lilting lullaby of Linux. Bill Gates is NOT Satan. He’s an entrepreneur who wants to make money. Last I heard we lived in a free market society. Most capitalists, when unchecked, would be entirely in favor of rampant monopoly power. The good thing is, though that where monopolies exist, there are checks put in place to prevent such things.
Microsoft is a monopoly by default. It is an easy operating system that most people have chosen to use. Therefore, Microsoft has the power of the marketplace to set prices and do business. I see nothing very wrong with that.
Bill Gates is not Satan and Microsoft is not the harbinger of the apocolypse. Please be aware that there are some people who just simply like using the products that are presented to them. The more third party applications I install, the larger my registry gets, and the slower my computer eventually becomes.
You get the point. I’m a power user, but I really don’t care about tabbed browsing. The popup blocker in XPSP2 is awesome, and so is the firewall. I don’t want to bloat my machine any more than is necessary. Or then maybe your paranoia blinds you to the point I’m making.
I have 4 browsers on my computer. IE, Maxthon, Opera and Firefox. I detect no speed difference, and since I have secured my machine, I don’t detect any troubles. I go to only certain safe sites. I don’t get caught in phishing schemes either. My email client is Outlook and I’m damned proud of it. My customers whom I support and protect have trusted me with the same and I have performed magnificiently.
In conclusion: Open your mind to all possiblities. I’ve chosen my browser and I’ve tried them all before coming home to what I’ve always used. Comes down to want I always say, “Fear breeds ignorance, Ignorance breeds paranoia.”

What do you think that I mean by that? I’ve been thinking that technology has proliferated our lives to the point that for some, it’s completely integrated. Take my life for instance, I spend all day on my work computer assisting people who are relying on my boss’s software to run their pool company. At night I operate my own business. I use accounting software to send invoices and bill my customers via PayPal. And now I’m updating my blog using Blogger’s website.
Web 2.0 is a term used by the modern websites such as Blogger, MySpace, etc. Web 3.0 in my opinion is what’s next. OnDemand TV is a fact for many of us. I see in the future the demise of what we call TV. OnDemand will be the only way we watch. This content will not come from cable providers but from the content producers themselves. If you want to watch Medium, you won’t have to wait until it’s on; you can click on a link on CBS Paramount’s website to watch the program. Yes, I know it’s on NBC, but CBS produces it.
Web 3.0 will be completely changing and effecting our lives. There are currently refrigerators that can order milk when you’re low. When the internet becomes transparent, is when I believe Web 3.0 will arrive.

link can carry vast amounts of voice, video and data information at very high
speeds.
How does Broadband Internet work?
Carriers use the lines' higher frequencies that telephone or cable TV carriers
don't need. Digital modems are hooked up at both ends of the line -- one in the
home, the other in the nearest telephone or cable company. The modems digitally
divide your line into three channels: One handles telephone or TV signal
traffic, one handles upstream data from your computer to the Internet; and the
third handles downstream data traffic from the Internet to your computer.
What are the major advantages of Broadband Internet?
It's fast. It's always on. It doesn't tie up your telephone while you're online
as a so-called "dial-up" service does. And it won't interfere with caller ID,
call waiting, cable TV reception or other features. But the most important

Who offers Broadband Internet service?
Almost every telephone carrier in North America and Europe is at some stage of
DSL deployment. That ranges from Baby Bells such as SBC Communications to
independent companies such as Earthlink, Covad, Sonic, SpeakEasy and GTE.
Internet via cable is offered by Comcast, Adelphia, Qwest and other companies.
How much does Broadband Internet service cost to install?
Many companies offer free installation. Others charge $100 and up for a
residential connection, and from $200 to $500 or more to connect a business.
How much will a Broadband Internet connection cost me per month?
Again, it varies. Your monthly bill will depend on your connection's speed and
whether you've ordered extras like additional e-mail boxes. A typical home user
can expect to pay around $40 a month for service. Businesses can expect to pay
from $150 to $300 a month for an enterprise class service.
What kind of equipment do I need?
A digital modem that's usually leased from your service provider and included
in your monthly bill. Your computer also must connect to the modem, which is
done through an Ethernet cable that your Broadband Internet service vendor
usually provides. To transform a telephone or cable TV line into a high-speed
data line special equipment must be installed on both ends of the line at the
customer premises and the local telephone/cable TV office.
Can I share my Broadband Internet with more than one computer?
Yes, but your computers have to be networked. You'll need a network card for
each additional computer, Category 5 or 5e network cables and a NAT router with
a switch or hub. These components are very economical and commonly available at
any computer store. Once these components are installed they will allow the
computers within the network to share your single Internet account concurrently
and independently. As a nice side effect the NAT router will shield your PC's on
your internal network from the outside providing a level of security against
hackers. But please do not consider your NAT router a real, fool proof firewall.
How do I know if I qualify for an Internet Broadband service?
You can visit the web page of any Internet Broadband Service Provider (ISP) to
check for service availability in your area. However, if you want a
recommendation, choose a company that offers a history of stability such as
SBC,
Comcast or EarthLink (you want to minimize the probability of your Broadband ISP
going out of business as it happened to many users of @Home in 2001 or DirectTV
DSL in 2002).
Wireless Fidelity or Wi-Fi
Wireless Fidelity, or Wi-Fi for short, is a term used by the Wireless
Ethernet Compatibility Alliance to describe wireless networking technology. The
term is used interchangeably with 802.11g or 802.11b.
How it works
Instead of moving data through a network using Ethernet network cables, Wi-Fi
uses radio waves in the 2.4 GHz at 11 Mb per sec. (802.11b) or 2.4GHz at
54 Mb per sec. (802.11g) spectrum to move data. This is the same range used by
many cordless phones. In a wireless network, all of the computers in your office
or home broadcast their information to one another using radio signals. This can
make networking extremely easy, especially if you have computers all over your
office or house. It also makes it a whole lot simpler to move computers around.
For example, a laptop with a wireless network card is completely portable
throughout the office or house.
Under 802.11b and 802.11g devices are fully compatible and communicate at a
speed of 11 and 54 Mbps respectively whenever possible. If signal strength or
interference is disrupting data, the devices will drop back to lower speeds.
Though it may occasionally slow down, this keeps the network stable and very
reliable.
Wireless broadband
The best way for consumers to use this technology is to tap into their office
or home high-speed Internet connection. A wireless router or access point is
installed to your wired network to broadcast your Internet signal. If you
purchase a wireless network card, your laptop, PC, or personal digital assistant
(PDA) can get the signal. Certain cafs, airports, and universities let you tap
into their wireless network so you can get Internet access on your
Wi-Fi-equipped laptop.
Whats a hotspot?
A hotspot is a wireless access point where users can get onto a network or
the Internet. Hotspots are found in various public places for free or for a fee,
provided the users devices (laptops, PDAs) have Wi-Fi network cards. Many
airports and hotels have hotspots . Also, Starbucks has hotspots at more than
1,000 locations in the United States. Soon, you will be able to find a hotspot
anywhere in the world by visiting the Wi-Fi Zone, a project of the Wi-Fi
Alliance.
